Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get started?

From the homepage, click on locations to find The Storage Depot facility nearest you. You can get a free quote, reserve a space online, request more information, or call the office and speak to one of our professional employees.

What types of storage do you offer?

We welcome personal storage, business storage, and RV/boat storage customers. Personal storage units are available for furniture, file cabinets, family keepsakes, or seasonal lawn and garden equipment. For business customers, we offer units where file cabinets, documents, and office furniture can be securely stored and easily accessed. For our RV/boat storage customers, we offer covered, open, and enclosed storage to protect your investment.

What kind of security features do you offer?

We offer state-of-the-art technology, including: building intruder alarms, computer-controlled access, individual unit door alarms, multi-camera video surveillance, well-lit perimeter, fully fenced facilities, and high-security unit locks. Our managers also reside onsite to respond to all alarms immediately. Note not all security features are available at each facility so please speak to our employees regarding any security concerns you have for a particular facility.

What are your unit sizes?

Unit sizes range from approximately 5’x5’ to 10’x30’, depending on the location. Many facilities offer smaller and larger spaces. If unsure of your needed unit size, talk to one of our professional employees to help determine the best fit for your storage needs.

Do you have climate-controlled units?

Climate-controlled units, which maintain a set temperature range to insulate and preserve your belongings, are available at many facilities. Inquire at the property nearest you about climate-controlled storage options.

Do I have to sign a long-term storage contract?

Due to storage lien laws, all new tenants are required to sign a lease agreement with The Storage Depot in order to store their belongings. The contract signed is a month-to-month agreement with a month-long minimum stay.

Do you have prepay discounts?

Yes. Many of our customers take advantage of our prepay discounts. While the discounts can vary from store to store, tenants will receive substantial savings by taking advantage of the available discounts. Pre-pay discounts are offered on 6- and 12-month terms. We also offer move-in discounts and they will vary from facility to facility. To take advantage of our current discounts and specials being offered, contact one of the facilities and ask them about their specials and discounts.

Do you provide dollies or carts to help me move my things?

Dollies and handcarts are available at each facility to aid in your move-in and move-out process.

Do you offer RV, boat, car, and motorcycle parking?

The Storage Depot offers vehicle and boat storage at some facilities, but not all. Please check with the property nearest you. The vehicle must be drivable and we need a copy of the registration or title on file.

What’s the difference between access hours and office hours?

Office hours indicate the presence of a manager who provides in-person customer service, such as accepting payments, answering questions, etc. During access hours, you can use your gate code to access your storage unit, but a manager may not be on hand to assist you.

Do you sell packing materials?

At this time none of our facilities offer packing materials for sale.

Do you supply security locks?

We require the use of a disc-style padlock. We sell them onsite or you may bring your own as long as it is the disc lock style.

What items cannot be stored?

You cannot store any hazardous, toxic, or illegal items. Also, no food or perishable items can be stored in our spaces. If in doubt of what can be stored, please ask the manager. Examples of items that cannot be stored include ammunitions, gasoline, paint, paint thinner, propane, food, produce, plants, and fireworks.

What type of deposit or fees do you charge?

We do not charge a deposit fee to our customers.

What are the payment terms?

Rent is due on the first of each month and, if not received by the tenth, will be assessed a late fee. Our customers can ensure timely payment with services like online payment and automatic payment to your MasterCard, Visa, or Discover card each month.

Can anyone drive onto the property?

All of our facilities have an electronic gate system that can only be opened by a unique security code that is assigned to each individual tenant or person authorized to have access. The code allows us to monitor who is entering and exiting the facility at all times.

When can I access my unit?

Our locations typically have the same gate hours of Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday or major holidays from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. There are a couple of facilities that have 24-hour access. Contact the nearest property to learn more about its access hours.

What about insurance?

While your items are in storage they are not covered by the storage location for loss or damage. You may be covered under an insurance policy you already have. Check with your insurance agent.
